Sarah Begg Global Knowledge Officer

Sarah supports Practical Action’s Knowledge and Learning agenda, with a particular focus on grassroots knowledge work. She coordinates and leads the MEL of Practical Answers, our grassroots knowledge service. She supports, and coordinates, our on-going knowledge portfolio around the four goal areas: AgricultureDisaster Risk Reduction, Energy Access and Urban Services. Sarah has a particular interest in organisational effectiveness and learning, and coordinates our learning organisation initiatives. More recently, she is leading a participatory learning study with Low Carbon Development Network which looks at how academic research can have impact at the grassroots.

Before joining Practical Action in 2016, Sarah worked for a Global Health Development charity supporting with institutional fundraising and reporting. She is a trained social scientist, with a qualitative research background from field studies in Uganda and Nepal. She has led both student groups, governed a small health development charity and led emergency fundraising appeals.
