Donner plus de sens à l’atténuation du changement climatique

Le système énergétique mondial est le facteur le plus important du changement climatique. Ainsi, réduire la consommation énergétique ainsi que les émissions de gaz à effet de serre a une importance primordiale dans le monde pour éviter des changements climatiques catastrophiques. Toutefois, améliorer l’accès aux services énergétiques modernes des 1,2 milliard de personnes qui n’en bénéficient pas est également un impératif mondial. L’accès à l’énergie améliore en effet les revenus, la santé, les soins de santé, l’éducation et la sécurité, et réduit les pratiques à forte intensité de main-d’oeuvre de toutes sortes. Ce document souligne l’importance fondamentale d’inclure ces deux questions dans la planification climatique et propose des recommandations sur la manière dont les décideurs et les institutions peuvent traiter simultanément ces deux questions de manière rapide et efficace.
